My question was not answered here, help! Pre-Sales Questions How long does it take for a new account to be setup? Accounts which are paid via online check or credit card are generally setup the same day that you submit your order. If your order arrives in the evening the account could be setup the same day or possibly the next day. Account setup will take no longer than 24 hours maximum. Accounts paid via check or money order are setup the same day payment arrives at our office via the postal mail. Top What types of payment does Lomag accept? We accept online checks, regular checks, money orders and cash. Through special arrangements we can also accept credit cards with proper verification, western union and paypal. Top What kind of connection does Lomag have to the Internet? Our network is connected directly to AboveNet's fiber optic IP network via redundant gigabit ethernet links. AboveNet utilizes the latest fiber optic technology with hundreds peering arrangements to insure that our IP traffic finds the best path to its destination. Top What operating system do you run? We run the CentOS or FreeBSD operating systems on all of our servers which are the most stable of the unix variants. Top Are you up to date with security and patches? Yes, all of our servers are kept up to date daily via updates from our private cvsup server. Incase of any downtime due to software or security upgrades, customers are notified at least 24 hours in advance whenever possible. Top Web Hosting Questions Does Lomag offer domain registration services? Yes, we are proud to offer domain registration for $15 per year. Please visit our Domain Registration page for more details. Top How long does it take a domain to transfer to your name servers? After you have requested your domain be transfered to our name servers your domain should be working from our servers within 24 hours. Top Do you support PHP extensions and MySQL databases? Yes. All of our web servers support PHP and MySQL. If you would like a MySQL database created please e-mail us. Top How do I upload files to my web site? You can connect to our server to upload files via FTP or secure FTP to upload files. Upon connecting to our server you will see a "www" directory in your account. All files must be uploaded inside that directory for them to show up on your web site. Top How can I manage pop3 email accounts and aliases for our domain? Please connect to our web-based e-mail management system at https://www.lomag.net/cgi-bin/qmailadmin. Input "postmaster" as the login name along with your domain name and password we assigned you. After you login you'll be able to create and modify pop3 e-mail accounts, aliases, forwarders, mailing lists, and much more. Top Can I manage my domains dns settings? Yes, our custom made WebDNS system allows you to modify every aspect of your domains DNS file and apply your changes in real-time. Top Shell Account Questions How do I setup an eggdrop, bnc, or ircd? For detailed information about these programs please visit our shell support page. Top Where can I see a list of your public virtual hosts? In your shell account you can type "vhosts" for our vhost list or click here to see the vhost list for each of our servers online. Top How do I change my account password? After you login to your account you must type "passwd". Our system will then ask you for your old password and your new password twice. Top How do I enable my personal web site? Create a ~/public_html directory in your account. Afterwards any files uploaded in that directory will show up on your personal web site. Top How do I kill a background process? In your shell type "ps ux" which will display a list of running processes and their respective PID numbers. To kill a process find its pid number and type "kill -9 pid#". Top How much quota (disk space) have I used? In your shell type "quota". The number listed under usage is your quota usage in kilobytes. Top How many connections to IRC am I allowed to have from my BNC? There should be no more than 2 connections to IRC from any single BNC process running on our servers. Launching more than 2 connections to IRC from your BNC would be considering cloning and against our policies. Top Do you allow crontab access on shell accounts? Yes, all of our shell accounts are allowed to use crontab. Top Miscellaneous Questions Is the time and date on your servers always accurate? All of our servers are synced to stratum 1 time servers which use the atomic clock to accurately keep track of time. The time on our servers is never more than 1 second off. Top Do you have a referral program? Yes we have a referral program!
